Classification and Compensation Study
Classification and Compensation Study
On January 6, 2022, the Calexico Unified School District and the California School Employees Association, including its Calexico Chapter #399 (CSEA), reached a Tentative Agreement that was approved by the Governing Board on January 24, 2022. The agreement included a commitment by both parties to request the Personnel Commission to conduct a classification review of all classified positions.
On June 20, 2023, the Personnel Commission received a joint letter from the Calexico Unified School District and the California School Employees Association, along with its Calexico Chapter #399 (CSEA), requesting to initiate the previously agreed classification study.
The District published a Request for Proposals (RFP #2023-03) for the Classified Service Classification & Compensation Study in the Imperial Valley Press on September 5, 2023, and September 12, 2023.
The District received three proposals, conducted reference checks for all three firms, and held interviews with the two firms that received the most favorable references.
Ewing Consulting, Inc. was selected by the Classification and Compensation Steering Committee as the consulting company to perform the study and on March 27, 2024, the Personnel Commission approved Ewing Consulting, Inc to perform the Classified Service Classification & Compensation Study.
NEXT STEP: REVIEW OF JOB DESCRIPTIONS
NEXT STEP: REVIEW OF JOB DESCRIPTIONS
The classification and compensation study is at a stage where the consultants have completed analysis of the PIQ’s and conducted interviews with a large number of staff in order to recommend the appropriate classification title and job description for all of the positions.
The next step of the process is to inform the employees of their preliminary recommendations to give them a chance to provide further input prior to finalizing this phase of the study.
Currently, the consultants are only suggesting class titles and job descriptions, NOT salary survey results or placement on the salary schedule.
- Please, carefully review the recommended classification description for your job as found on the link below.
- First, you can find your name and recommended title on the allocation listing.
- Then, pull up the job description found under “Classification Descriptions” in alphabetical order.
- The red color indicates items deleted; the yellow color indicates additions to the current job description.
- Please review the overall description and give us your thoughts by completing the “Appeals Form” to indicate concerns in the title or narrative.
- The consultants will evaluate every concern and will provide, in writing, final recommendations regarding your title and description.
- You need to complete the form and send it directly to the personnel@cusdk12.org by Monday March 3, 2025.
- Forms submitted after this date may not be considered
